Wise Words from Buddy The Elf!

As I'm in such a lovely mood, I just thought I'd add my current favourite picture of myself and my best friend. She's coming to visit me on Saturday so no doubt I'll be updating after our weekend of funsies in Leeds!

I haven't actually made any plans of what we can do yet, but in the words of Buddy the Elf..."First we'll make snow angels for two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookie-dough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle!"
I'm excited already.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Confession!

I'm back again!

Well, I wasn't intending to post again today, but as it happens I've just had a surprise visit from my parents so I'm in a really good mood and I thought it'd be nice to add another little nugget of my life to this blog-thingy-whatsit.

This weekend was BUCS at Sheffield (for those that may not know, BUCS is the university sports league) and usually I would have been swimming for Leeds Uni, but I decided not to enter this time to save myself some embarrassment as I'm just not fit enough to swim well right now.

Anyway, my older brother was swimming for Birmingham (he's done really well so big ups to Phil!) and my parents had gone to watch and they called me en route back home to say was I in the house and would I like a flying visit. They only popped in for a cup of tea and a quick catch up, but it was lovely to see them. Mum brought home-baked biscuits which was obviously an added bonus and not to be turned down!

I do have a slight confession to make on the biscuit front though. See, this year I decided to give up chocolate for lent...foolish I know, but it's something I've always wanted to do so I thought it'd be good to challenge myself. (As a side-note, I've also given up bread but we'll not talk about that because it's a bit of a sore point at the moment...I'm craving a panini like nobody's business!) Anyway, the biscuits mum bought were white chocolate chip cookies (my ultimate favourite) and it would have been rude to say no!

I'm not sure if this means I've broken the rules of lent or not. See, traditionally lent doesn't include Sundays so as it's Sunday today, I guess technically those beautifully creamy white chocolate chips don't count...right?!

So now that I'm in a lovely little mood and feeling pretty swell and content with my life maybe it's time to knock out a few more words in this essay...

Here I am, and here we go!

Ok, so here we go. I'm well aware that I have zero followers, and I potentially never will, but just on the very slim off-chance that this ever 'takes off' and people decide to read my first ever blog post I guess I'd better introduce myself. I'm Emma, I'm 19 and I'm from a small market town in County Durham. I'm in my second year studying Linguistics and Phonetics at the University of Leeds (I'm actually supposed to be writing a phonetics essay right now, but hey, that can wait...). I moved away from home last year, and I'm currently living in a student house with 7 other people. I like to think I lead a fairly well rounded student life and so far I seem to be managing to balance my studies with my social and sporting commitments.

I'm not entirely sure what else I particularly need to say at this point. I just thought I'd better to a super quick 'whistle-stop-tour' of my life at present, since it's likely that my uni experiences may feature quite a bit in this blog. That said, I actually have no idea what the content of this blog will be as such. I've wanted to start writing for a while as I've been inspired by bloggers such a Zoe, Louise and Tanya, but I can't say I have any particular interest that's worth blogging about.

I'm not a beauty expert or a make up fanatic. I'm not into fashion and I can't afford to be a shopaholic. I'm not going travelling, nor am I planning a wedding or about to give birth. I'm just me. Just your standard 19 year old girl. Average Jane.

Well, I guess that's my first post complete. I can't promise to be back soon, and I can't guarantee that the contents of these posts will be in any way interesting. Most likely I'll just post randomly here and there when anything particularly noteworthy happens that I'd like to document. So there we have it. Here I am, and here we go!

(I'd just like to point out that it took me about ten minutes to write the above 344 words, yet it's taken me all weekend to write the same amount of phonetics essay. Oops!)
